Letter from AFM

What do an NFL assistant coach, a coordinator of a national champion college team, head coach of a national champion high school team, a former Harvard quarterback and head coach of an American football team in Finland have in common? Answer: they’re all contributors to this issue of American Football Monthly.

It’s been said before but it bears repeating: Coaches sharing information with fellow coaches is unique to football and is the cornerstone of our mission at AFM. For over 15 years, we’ve published articles that, thankfully, you’ve been willing to provide so that others can benefit from your knowledge and success.

At every level of the game, here and abroad, AFM has a special role in the community of football coaches. We are the clearinghouse for innovative ideas, the place where champions are recognized and championship coaches honored and the sounding board for those that care about the game’s future.

Other magazines and web sites may have football-related content, but, as you’ve told us in surveys year after year, nobody does it better than AFM. In fact, this year 92% of you said that if you had to choose only one coaching magazine, it would be the one you’re holding now.

In this age of new media, blogs and instant analysis, it is gratifying to know that you still value having a magazine that you can pick up, read, share and save. The articles and diagrams that you can learn from and put to good use, the photos that capture great players in action and the words of champion coaches from around the country and around the world all help to make AFM a “must-read” for any coach who wants to improve and advance.

To all contributors, past and present, that have shared their knowledge with their peers, we salute you.

And to our loyal subscribers, we express our sincere gratitude.

Happy New Year to everyone in the coaching community and continued success on and off the field!
