Privacy Policy
How American Football Quarterly and AFM Media handle your information
Last updated: September 26, 2026
American Football Quarterly ("AFQ", "we", "us"), a publication of AFM Media, respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through americanfootballquarterly.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Information you provide: name, email address, mailing address and phone number when you sign up for our email, place an order, or contact us. The magazine itself is free to read and needs no account.
- Order details: the products you purchase from AFM Media and the status of past magazine subscriptions. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers and are not stored on our servers.
- Automatically collected data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring page and similar usage data collected through cookies, advertising identifiers and standard web logs (see Cookies, Analytics and Advertising below).
- Form and log data: when you submit one of our forms, we record the IP address, browser identification and referring page together with your submission, and we keep our own server logs of requests to the site. We use this only to keep the forms working and to identify automated or abusive submissions, and we keep it no longer than we need it for that purpose. It is not used to advertise to you and it is not sold.
How We Use Your Information
- To fulfill orders and honor past subscriptions.
- To send the coaching email you request and, where permitted, occasional offers from AFM Media. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To respond to customer-service inquiries and provide support.
- To improve our website, content, and services.
- To keep our sign-up and contact forms working, and to detect and block automated or abusive submissions.
- To show advertising that supports the free magazine, including ads selected by Google and its partners based on your interests (see Advertising below).
Email & Marketing
Our email is managed through Constant Contact. When you join our list you consent to receive email from AFM Media. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message, or by contacting us. We do not sell your email address.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them to remember preferences, to measure how the site is used (Analytics) and to serve and measure advertising (Advertising). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the magazine remains fully readable without them.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles and issues coaches read and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data such as your IP address (which Google truncates), device and browser information, pages viewed and time on page. Google processes this data on our behalf; we do not use it to identify you personally. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
American Football Quarterly is free to read and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense and may use other third-party advertising partners to show ads on this site. These vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies (such as the advertising cookies Google sets through its ad services) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet, and to measure how ads perform.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some other third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (U.S.) or www.youronlinechoices.com (Europe).
- Ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Non-personalized ads still use cookies or device identifiers to limit how often you see an ad, to fight fraud and to measure performance, but not to profile your interests.
- If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time from the link in the site footer.
- Third-party ad vendors and networks that serve ads on this site have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Google's practices are described at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
How We Share Information
We share information only with service providers who help us operate — for example email delivery, order fulfillment, payment processing, analytics and advertising (see above) — and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law. We do not sell your personal information. Advertising partners may collect information through their own cookies as described in the Advertising section; California residents may treat that as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising and can opt out using the links above.
Data Retention & Security
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide what you asked for (an order, the daily email) and for legitimate business or legal purposes. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect it; however, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
Your Choices
- Update or remove your details by contacting customer service.
- Unsubscribe from marketing email at any time.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
- Opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info, and out of Google Analytics with the opt-out add-on.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser at any time.
Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for coaches and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
